Raptors v Jacks Game 6
Ogden, UT
In a back and forth contest through the early goings of the game, the Raptors ended up not being able to keep pace with the visiting Grand Junction Jackalopes, and the battle of nine innings belonged to the Jackalopes in the sixth and final game of the series. An even split between the two sides, three games a piece as the Raptors gunned for the series win, but came up short in this afternoon's contest. It was a 3-2 ballgame through the first 6 full innings, before Grand Junction exploded in their half of the seventh, scoring 5 unanswered runs to take their lead from one run to six runs in the blink of an eye. The Raptors struggled to score in the opportunities they were presented with, leaving ten runners throughout the game on the basepaths, making it hard to tally big damage innings. Their first multi run inning of the game came all the way in the ninth with their backs against the wall, and the Raptors have been no strangers to their late inning comebacks, but today, the seven run deficit they attempted to overcome proved to be insurmountable. The final two runs tacked on by Grand Junction in the ninth proved to be backbreakers as they sat with their 7 run lead comfortably headed to their final at bats in the bottom half of the ninth. While the Raptors did tag across two runs in their final turn at bat, the seven run deficit with only three outs to work with proved to be the thorn in the Raptors side that prevented them from taking the sixth and final game of the series. An even series split between these two squads, with the Raptors looking to bounce back in the win column starting on Tuesday, August sixth, as they hit the road for 12 straight games, headed first to Great Falls to take on the Voyagers in a six game series before they bounce down the road for a six game set against the Billings Mustangs. That Tuesday contest starts at seven PM MST as the Raptors aim to put a win streak together and get back to .500 baseball.
