Raptors V Vibes Game 2.
Ogden, UT
Before today’s game, the Raptors were gunning for two straight wins and they secured that win streak with one of their best all around performances of the season this afternoon. It all started with a great performance by Nico Saltaformaggio on the bump, tossing five strong innings of five hit baseball, surrendering four runs while walking two batters, on his way to striking out five hitters in total. His performance set up the rest of the bullpen for a tax free day on the diamond, with Brayden Bonner and Quinn Waterhouse coming in to mop up the final four innings, tossing three combined strikeouts, allowing six hits and four runs, while only walking two batters combined. The key to success tonight was for the Raptors to pitch to contact, play lockdown defense, and to take advantage of offensive opportunities which is exactly what they did en route to their 16-8 rout of the Vibes. All it takes is two for it to become a win streak and the Raptors earned that win streak with their performance today. Every single hitter in the starting 9 recorded at least one hit, and most impressively, Jack Cone was able to reel in one of his best games as a professional, going five for five with six RBI’s, and four runs scored. He was the catalyst to the Raptors production at the plate today and a large reason why the Raptors went seven for eight in their lead off at bats. They will be looking to make it three straight wins against the Vibes starting tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM for the Labor Day contest and final game of this quick three game set at home.
