Raptors Take 3 of 6 Games on the Road

Tasked with closing out the series on the bump for the Raptors was Pablo Arevalo and his performance almost singlehandedly gave the Raptors the length they needed to secure the win and take 3 of 6 games from the Hawks. In a game where the Raptor's offense took advantage of opportunities given to them and did exactly what they needed to do to scrape across insurance runs, Pablo Arevalo shined the brightest on the mound. Not only did Arevalo secure the win for his team, but he also reeled in the pitching staff's 1st complete game of the young season. He went the full length of the game, surrendering 1 earned run on 4 hits coupled with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. While he might not have had his best swing-and-miss stuff, his pitch-to-contact ability and damage limitation with runners on the base paths led to him putting down an elite performance on the mound. The Hawks lineup had no answer for Arevalo, as they went the final 8 innings of the game without plating a run; Throughout the game, the Hawks struggled to get good wood on Arevalo and put runners on the bases, which really put Arevalo on cruise control during the final half of the game. Arevalo may have had a dazzling game on the rubber, but without his lineup providing support, the effort would have been all for not.

The Raptor’s batting order did an amazing job of not trying to do too much and made the most of the opportunities presented to them. Playing from behind down 1-nothing early, the lineup chipped away at that 1-run lead, tying it up in the 4th, and taking the lead in the 6th. With some solid baserunning and a clutch swing from Juan Teixeira, the Raptors took a 3-run lead courtesy of 2 runs scoring on wild pitches, and 1 scoring on the single from Teixeira. Now with the 3-run lead and Arevalo on cruise control on the mound, the Raptors were well-equipped to take the final game of the series.

In the finale of this 6-game road trip for the Raptors, Arevalo shut the door on the Hawks, leading his team to a W, with morale flying high as the ballclub heads back home to Ogden. They will be looking to start a winning streak as they face off against the Idaho Falls Chukars on Tuesday night at 6:30, kicking off their 2nd home series of the 2023 season.
